Engineering student takes up new position
Papua New Guinea Engineering (Fitter Machining) student Kevin Jack has not only completed Certificate III in his chosen profession, but has also taken up a new position with OK Tedi Mining at Tabubil, PNG.
Kevin began his studies with APTC in January 2009, with a background of working for 12 years as a Tradesperson Assistant at a small company in Tabubil. Prior to his training with APTC, Kevin had not had the opportunity to work with lathes or milling machines.
Engineering (Fitter Machining) Trainer Kevin Lennon said, "Despite having
no prior experience of working with lathes and milling machines, Kevin
learnt the necessary skills to operate this equipment accurately. He also
learnt to align couplings accurately, as a part of exercises to improve
his overall fitting skills. Kevin's new skills and attention to detail
have resulted in his new employment with OK Tedi Mining."
