Students take medals at Salon Culinaire
Commercial cookery students who took part in the annual Fiji Chefs Association Salon Culinaire in Nadi walked away with cash prizes and silver and bronze medals.
"APTC Culinary Trainers Udo Erlichmann, Andrew Ireland, and Douglas Batisson encouraged their students to take part in a range of categories in the two-day annual event," explained Mr Jim Irwin, Country Manager, Fiji. "The three APTC trainers provided the students with coaching and training prior to the event."
The 24 students entered a total of 31 categories in the Salon Culinaire, which was hosted this year by the Tanoa International Hotel, Nadi.
"The students came through the event richer for the experience, and with a fine haul of three Silver medals, 17 Bronze medals, as well as cash prizes for finishing first and second in the Live Soup, Student/Apprenticeship category, and third in the Student /Apprenticeship, Live Main Course category," said Mr Irwin.
Mr Irwin concluded by saying that, at the presentation dinner, the president of the Fiji Chef's Association, Faruk Mohammed, paid tribute to the APTC tourism and hospitality trainers, all active members of the association's committee, as well as the training they provide.
