PNG TVET officials from Provincial Training Centres visit APTC
A group of twenty-one senior TVET inspectors and training coordinators from the Papua New Guinea Provincial Training Centres recently visited the APTC Port Moresby Technical College (POMTECH).
Not only were the PNG TVET visitors given a tour of the POMTECH facilities, but they were also given an overview of the Automotive, Construction & Electrical, and Manufacturing (ACEM) training programs.
This included a clarification of the ACEM training models and the qualification outcomes for the graduating students.
Discussions also featured the potential training pathways provided by APTC courses for PNG Provincial Training Centre graduates who meet APTC enrollment criteria.
The two main training pathways for students who do meet the criteria are the New Industry Entrant (NIE) programs for recent PNG TVET graduates students, or the Existing Worker programs for those who have been in the workforce for some time.
Team Leader, Mr Ruben Aue, Senior Provincial Liaison Officer Vocational Education Branch, Waigani, said that “the news of APTC and its training opportunities has reached most provincial centers of PNG, and there is a growing enthusiasm in school leavers to undertake vocational preparatory courses to place them in a position to apply for NIE training.”
