Women breaking new ground in male-dominated industry

Perina Iaone, student, and Ramiza (Suzie) Razak , Tutor, both of Fiji, are breaking new ground in ACEM’s Wall and Floor Tiling Certificate III course at the Narere TPAF campus in Fiji.
“My Dad is a builder, and I was always interested in his work, so he started teaching me tiling. I came to TPAF to find out about courses, and was directed to the ACEM tiling course.
“I was really excited when I found that some of my course work would be supervised by a local woman tutor, Suzie Razak. It’s great to work with another woman, especially one who has worked in the industry for nearly 10 years. One day, I hope to take over the family business. Suzie has run her own tiling business, so she can give me really helpful advice. Suzi, a graduate of the Wall and Floor Tiling course who has recently been engaged as a tutor, said that she was glad to have a woman student. “I hope that more women realise that tiling is a great profession and a really good business opportunity,” said Suzie. .
