APTC PNG NIE students impress their hosts
The APTC ACEM New Industry Entrant (NIE) program is already proving beneficial to students at the Papua New Guinea Campus.
“While on work placement, three NIE students have been offered permanent employment by their host employers,” explained Rick Harper, ACEM Manager Project Implementation.
“Michael Pora a skilled student who has contributed to developing resources for APTC, impressed his host employer, Timberi Mines,” said Rick. “Michael has accepted a position with Timberi Mines, and graduates in October with Certificate III in Engineering, Mechanical.”
“James Lembo also impressed his host employer, Kanudi Power Plant. James has chosen to wait until completing his Certificate III in Engineering before taking up his position as Maintenance Fitter with the Kanudi Power Plant,” continued Rick.
“Host employer, Curtain Bros Dock Yards, was impressed by third student Richard Noel’s skills and work ethic,” said Rick.” Consequently, Richard was offered a full time position, and is now working for his host employer. Richard continues to attend APTC one day a week to complete his Certificate III in Engineering, Mechanical.”
