Making an impact on the lives of children
Speaking on behalf of the first 29 graduates in Certificate III in Children’s Services, at the recent ceremony in Nadi, Fiji, graduating student Alelia Nagatelevu said, “Tonight is a milestone in our career paths. We have learnt a lot, and will have an impact on the country.
We are making a big impact on the lives of children.” Ms Nagatelevu also thanked the Australian Government, “for allowing us to grow.” These comments followed Head of APTC School of Health and Community Services (SHCS) Ms Angela Hoare-Lippmann’s address, in which she emphasised the importance of early childhood education.
“Early childhood education is not just baby-sitting,” said Ms Hoare-Lippmann. “The development of conceptual thinking and socialisation in the first five years of a child’s life are of crucial importance to their future development.” Ms Hoare-Lippmann concluded by saying that the new graduates were so aware of the impact of early childhood education that, “Twenty of the twenty-nine Children’s Services graduates are already enrolled in the Diploma of Children’s Services course.”
