Fruit and Vegetables Sector Strategy for Samoa
APTC recently attended the launch of the Samoa Fruit and Vegetable Sector Strategy where the College had been invited to showcase a cooking demonstration of recipes, utilising local Samoan produce.
The Fruit and Vegetables Sector Strategy has been embraced by Members of Parliament, including the Honourable Deputy Prime Minister Misa Telefoni, and leaders of the European Union’s Agriculture Commodities Program, and the International Trade Centre from Geneva, Switzerland.
Chef Trainer John Blake and graduating Commercial Cookery students, Sam Matafeo and Dana Rasmussen Ah Young, spent the afternoon preparing six recipes, and then providing ‘tastings’ as well as recipe handouts for the invited guests at the Robert Louis Stevenson Museum.
Representatives from the Agricultural and Hospitality sectors were present, including farmers, processors, retailers and restaurateurs.
APTC Samoa’s Industry partners, BOC Gas and the Samoan Hotel Association, provided valuable support with their time and equipment.
