Samoa students complete orientation at Lalomanu Beach
APTC Tourism & Hospitality students in Samoa recently followed two days of intense orientation sessions held in Apia with a third, informal day at Lalomanu Beach.
This gathering, combined with the two-hour journey to the beach, gave the students the opportunity to meet each other and APTC staff in a relaxed atmosphere prior to beginning classes at the Samoa campus.
On arrival at the beach, the students, from PNG, Tonga and Samoa, all participated in preparing the food.
The menu included two suckling pigs; one prepared in the traditional Umu by the Samoa students and one roasted over open hot coals by the Tongan students. There were also plenty of breadfruit, bananas, taro, curry chicken and salads to go around.
The rest of the day was filled playing volleyball, relaxing, swimming and making new friends.
