Samoa students keen to help back home
New Industry Entrant (NIE) students, Talele Tuifea, Inia Bukaravu and Sisa Salele are eager to put their new knowledge and skills to use back home in Samoa.
The Certificate III Carpentry students are close to completing their studies at the Fiji Public Works and Development facility, in Walu Bay, Suva. The course has centred on the construction of two houses at the PWD facility.
Talele Tuifea said, “I am excited about completing my Certificate III and applying the knowledge that Richard has taught us over the past year. It is important for all of us Samoan students to go back and help rebuild the country after the Tsunami.”
APTC Construction Trainer Richard Babovic said, “The students have really surprised me in what they were able to achieve. They have all embraced the new skills and methods used within the Australian building industry; their attitude and willingness to learn is a breath of fresh air for me and my teaching. I can’t wait for the next group to arrive early January 2010.”
