Children’s Services course ‘makes a difference’
After nearly twelve months of study, the 15 students attending the first course in Certificate III, Children’s Services provided in Fiji, have successfully concluded their studies.
Trainer Cheryl Payne said that she and Kerryn Puckey, (who taught the course from August 2008 to February 2009), can see changes that the course has brought to the students’ lives.
“The students have taken the time to reflect upon the difference the course has made to their professional lives, their levels of self-confidence and the higher quality of their Kindergarten programs, as well as celebrating the end of the course with special dinners,” said Cheryl.
Cheryl said that during the year many of the students had been involved in the examination and discussion of the Fiji Ministry of Education’s Kindergarten Curriculum Guidelines (Na Noda Mataniciva) draft documents, and looked forward to the future implementation of these.
“The students are making a difference to the lives of the children in their classrooms, and to those of their own families. In fact, many of the students want to continue their studies in the Diploma of Children’s Services,” concluded Cheryl.
