Successful Ceremony for 25 Solomons grads
Early September saw 25 Solomon Islands students graduating in the third successful APTC graduation ceremony in Honiara.
Students traveled from Malaita, Makira and other areas in the Solomons to attend the ceremony held at Kitano Medana Hotel in Honiara.
A highlight of the graduation ceremony was the student’s entry procession, which was heralded by a Solomon Islands’ traditional panpipe group.
The students are no strangers to travel, having completed their courses at APTC campuses in Fiji, Vanuatu and Samoa. The new graduates received Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, Hospitality Operations, Tourism Operations, and one in Patisserie, (the latter being the first such Solomon Islands APTC graduate).
Graduating in their home country in the company of family, friends and employers, the graduates wee also honoured by the presence of Guest of Honour Ms Mylyn Kuve, Permanent Secretary of Education; Mr Kamal Azmi, Counsellor Development Cooperation AusAID, and Mr Dick Hamori, APTC Advisory Group member for the Solomon Islands.
