National University of Samoa (NUS) – OPEN DAY
APTC in Samoa joined the National University of Samoa (NUS) Open Day. Although the main target for NUS was school leavers, APTC in Samoa was happy to participate and have an information table at the open day. School leavers were eager to know more about APTC and its objectives in Samoa and the Pacific. APTC’s participation emphasised that there was not only academic options but also technical and vocational education options for students once they completed school.
NUS students, teachers and members of the public showed a great interest in ATPC training and in enrolling with APTC. NUS students in their University Preparatory Year (UPYequivalent to Form 7), all vie for scholarships out of Samoa. Not all students receive scholarships. Some may get awards to study locally while some will look elsewhere for other opportunities. APTC would be an ideal option if they meet the entry requirements.
APTC students on their way to classes also stopped by the information table, which was a great way of showing the public the diversity and calibre of our students. Pictured below are two APTC students in Samoa undertaking Certificate III in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning. At the conclusion of the open day, NUS achieved their goal and APTC’s relationship with NUS was strengthened.
