Prime Minister of Samoa, the Honourable Tuilaepa Lupesoli Sailele Malielegaoi and Australian Parliamentary Secretary for International Development Assistance, the Honourable Minister Bob McMullen joined in the recent official opening of the new, ST$2.8 million, APTC facility at the Samoa Campus.
The Honourable Prime Minister spoke of the opening ceremony within the context of the recent disaster, saying that the occasion “…makes an important contribution in (the) healing process.”
Prime Minister Tuilaepa commended APTC for the mark it has made locally, “…with its high quality training and the growing number of Samoan graduates.
“Its trainers and administrators have also worked hard in establishing positive relationships with NUS (National University of Samoa), the local community and industries,” added the Honourable Mr Tuilaepa
Mr McMullen said that APTC is a critical part of Australia’s partnership with Samoa, and that the new classroom and administration block demonstrates that the partnership “is as strong, as it is enduring.”
Mr McMullen also said that he would like “…to acknowledge the APTC training partner in Samoa, the National University of Samoa Institute of Technology. The close working relationship between staff and students from the APTC and NUS is helping deliver an international standard of training and education.”
