APTC graduate pursues dream
Maree Karukuru is making a name for herself in a male dominated trade profession in Papua New Guinea. Maree graduated with a Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitting and Machining) from APTC in 2015. According to Maree, receiving an APTC qualification has opened many doors for her including her latest endeavour to join the PNG Defence Force. Read more

Vanuatu alumni help support people with disabilities
APTC alumni in Vanuatu have been assisting people with disabilities in Erakor village, Port Vila. Alumni members have been raising funds by organising activities through the APTC Alumni Vanuatu Chapter. So far, around 100,000 VT (vatu) has been raised through the Chapter’s first “wheelbarrow push” initiative in April. Read more

Clean up of Nausori Health Centre
APTC alumni members have started an ongoing campaign to clean-up the Nausori Health Centre in Fiji. The first clean-up activity was carried out in April where members helped in cleaning rooms and facilities, repairing furniture and safely storing away unused medical equipment. They also cleaned the Health Centre grounds and carried out landscaping works. Read more

First APTC Tuvalu alumni networking event
APTC held its first networking event for alumni in Tuvalu on 17 February 2016. The meeting featured guest speakers, including APTC Chief Executive Officer, Ms Denise O’Brien, APTC Executive Director Training Delivery, Ms Marian Wilkinson and Permanent Secretary for Public Utilities and Infrastructure, Mr Avafoa Irata.

Tonga alumni meet
APTC alumni members met in Nuku’alofa and Vava'u in March this year. The meeting was an opportunity for APTC graduates working and living in Tonga to connect with each other. The alumni discussed activities that the Tongan Alumni Chapter had planned for this year. Alumni members also talked about how they want to share their knowledge and skills gained at APTC with their communities through outreach projects.

Australian alumni networking event
APTC Fiji alumni members got the opportunity to meet and interact with Fijians previously sponsored for studies by the Australian Government. The Australian Awards Alumni function, held on Tuesday 5 April, was hosted by the Australian High Commission at the Pacific Fusion Restaurant in Suva. APTC students undertaking Commercial Cookery and Hospitality courses provided catering for guests at the event.
