The APTC and Kiribati Institute of Technology (KIT) signed a “Letter of Agreement” at the first APTC Graduation recently conducted at the Otintaati Hotel, Tarawa. The agreement will see the development of collaborative activities in the specific areas of competency based curriculum reform; enhanced teaching of literacy and numeracy; TVET teacher development and senior and middle level leadership and management development.
The Australian High Commissioner, Her Excellency Anne Quinane, presented certificates to Aretati Tewera who graduated with a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery and the wife of Teitinana Ribanti who graduated with a Certificate III in Hospitality Operations. Teitinana Ribanti had just gained employment off the island and could not be present. The graduates were joined and supported by their families.
The APTC was grateful for the attendance and support from the Kiribati Government. Senior Government officials who attended included Teekoa Ietaake, Secretary. Ministry of Education, Youth & Sports and APTC Advisory Group member, Taakei Taoaba , Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Taam Biribo, Secretary to Cabinet. Other Australian advisers from AusAID funded projects and AusAID Officer Emma Tiaree also attended.
