APTC Vanuatu rememberance during ANZAC Day

Apr 25, 2013

"Today is ANZAC Day", these were the opening words of HE Bill Dobby NZ High Commissioner in his address at the ANZAC Day Dawn Service, Port Vila Cenotaph overlooking Port Vila harbour yesterday. And on ANZAC Day APTC students from Vanuatu, PNG, Solomon Islands, Marshall Islands and Samoa were outstanding ambassadors for their countries mingled with many Austalians and New Zealanders, who gathered to remember our diggers at a moving ceremony at sunrise.  Even the early showers of rain didn’t dampen the ANZAC spirit.

The service was followed by breakfast at Le Lagon Resort, hosted by the NZ High Commission.  APTC hospitality students provided front of house and meet and greet service at the breakfast attended by the by the President of Vanuatu Hon Iolo Abil, Prime Minister of Vanuatu Hon Moana Carcasses, Ministers, dignitaries and up to 250 general public.  The food and beverage service was again exemplary with smiles all round from our students as they graciously and professionally served this large crowd.

This was a great opportunity for our students from across the Pacific to share in their mutual understanding of the ANZAC tradition.   The smiles, poppies and umbrellas tell the story for itself.

APTC is an Australian Government initiative in partnership with the Pacific and Timor-Leste.

APTC is implemented by TAFE Queensland (RTO 0275)
