APTC supports Bishop Naramana Training Institute to enhance learning experience

Jun 06, 2024

The Australia Pacific Training Coalition (APTC) recently provided a crucial boost to its Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) partner, Bishop Naramana Institute of Technology in Isabel Province, Solomon Islands.

The Institute’s remote location makes it vulnerable to fuel shortages and this has affected its ability to continuously deliver courses that require the use of modern equipment.

This timely support by APTC will help boost the Institute’s power supply and assist in effectively delivering courses in construction, carpentry, and joinery, thus enhancing students’ learning experience.

APTC Country Director for the Solomon Islands and Kiribati, Ms Abigail Chang, reiterated APTC’s commitment to collaborating with the Bishop Naramana Institute of Technology to advance quality TVET provision across the Hapi Isles.

“The fuel support directly addresses the Institute’s request to enhance its student outcomes. APTC remains committed to providing timely and relevant support, working closely with ten Rural Training Centres to provide quality TVET to Solomon Islanders that will boost their skills for the future,” Ms Chang said.

Principal of Bishop Naramana Institute of Technology, Mr Zedekiah Tinarai, expressed his deep appreciation for APTC for its commitment to TVET and to the Institute.

“APTC’s most recent contribution to our Institute meets our need to generate power for training purposes. We want to acknowledge the Australian Government through APTC for their ongoing commitment to our Institute and our students,” Mr Tinarai said.

“Our collaboration with APTC has also significantly improved our training delivery, with staff gaining valuable skills through APTC’s International Skills Training qualification. Another three of our trainers completed training with APTC in March this year and another three graduated at APTC’s semester one graduation,” he added.

APTC and Bishop Naramana Institute of Technology are committed to providing quality TVET across the Solomon Islands.

APTC is the Australian Government's major investment into TVET in the Pacific and Timor-Leste.

APTC is an Australian Government initiative in partnership with the Pacific and Timor-Leste.
